  24. Installation Requirements
  25. -------------------------
  26. AutoDial requires Microsoft Windows v3.1, a 1200 bps or higher Hayes 
  27. or Hayes compatible modem, and roughly 500K of free disk space.

  29. You must provide the VBRUN200.DLL file and copy this to your
  30. \WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory prior to running the AutoDial installation 
  31. program.  VBRUN200.DLL can be obtained from Compuserve as VBRUN2.ZIP 
  32. in ZNT:TIPS Lib 10.

  35. Installation Notes, Download Version ADIAL.ZIP.

  37. AutoDial requires VBRUN200.DLL.  If you do not already have a copy
  38. of this file you can get one from Compuserve.  VBRUN200.DLL can be 
  39. obtained from Compuserve as VBRUN2.ZIP in the ZNT:TIPS Lib 10.

  41.         * UNZIP all files to a temporary directory on your hard disk.  
  42.  
  43.         * Copy VBRUN200.DLL to the your WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory.

  45.         * From the Windows Program Manager, select File, Run.  
  46.         
  47.         * Type the path to the AutoDial setup program.  For example, 
  48.           if you copied the AutoDial files to C:\TEMP, type C:\TEMP\SETUP 
  49.           after selecting File, Run from the Windows Program Manager.

  52. *** Note:  The AutoDial installation program copies the following
  53. files to your WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory:

  58. If you reinstall Windows to a new drive or directory, or if you migrate
  59. AutoDial to a new PC be sure to copy these files to the new 
  60. \WINDOWS\SYSTEM sub directory or reinstall AutoDial.

  63. Program Notes
  64. -------------

  66. To use help, select any of the HELP buttons or simply press the F1 key.
  67.  
  68. Be sure that your modem is turned on prior to running AutoDial so that
  69. AutoDial can properly initialize your modem.  The modem is initialized
  70. at time of startup.  If initialization fails, you will be prompted with
  71. an error when you start AutoDial.  If this happens, check your modem
  72. connection and or the AutoDial COM port setting, quit AutoDial and restart
  73. the program.  Failure to follow this procedure can result in your PC
  74. "hanging".
  75.  
  76. AutoDial can be configured to use either COM1 or COM2.  AutoDial initializes
  77. your modem with the speaker turned off.  This is to prevent feedback when
  78. dialing a telephone number with your phone off hook. 
  79.  
  80. If your phone system requires a phone number prefix to access numbers
  81. outside of your building, be sure to configure AutoDial properly.  To
  82. configure a phone prefix number select the Config button, highlight the 
  83. Phone Prefix field and enter the desired number.
  84.  
  85. To Dial a phone number, highlight the desired entry and select "Dial Phone".
  86. You will be prompted to continue.  Pick up your phone and select "OK".  You
  87. will hear the phone begin to dial.  AutoDial will dial the number, wait 
  88. several seconds, and then send a hangup command to the modem.  As long as 
  89. you have the phone off hook the call will continue to be processed.

  91. To Dial a beeper number, highlight the desired entry and select "Dial
  92. Beeper".  When prompted, select OK.  AutoDial will proceed with the
  93. call.  You will be notified of the following conditions:  BUSY, NO DIALTONE,
  94. NO ANSWER, ERROR.

  96. A maximum of 500 entries is allowed.

  98. *** Note:  Entry data is stored in the file PHONE.DAT.
  99.            Configuration data is stored in AUTODIAL.INI.
